Copenhagen, 9 November 2023 - We are thrilled to announce that we have acquired international sales rights for the Nordisk Film-produced crime drama series OFF THE RECORD.
The six-episode journalistic crime series is created by Jenny Lund Madsen, known for FOLLOW THE MONEY, (2016- 2019) and the popular comedy RITA, (2012-2020). The series is co-written by Madsen herself alongside Anton Breum, and directed by Jesper W. Nielsen (BORGEN, 2010 - 2022; GREYZONE, 2018). OFF THE RECORD is produced by Camilla Hammerich and Trin Hjortkjær Thomsen, Nordisk Film Series and Nordisk Film Production A/S, one of Denmark's leading houses for TV2 Denmark with expected broadcast Autumn 2024.
The series stars Mille Dinesen (RITA, 2012-2020; Nynne, 2005) in the lead role, alongside multi award winner Søren Malling (THE PROMISED LAND, 2023; THE KILLING, 2007-2012), Katrine Greis-Rosenthal (BEFORE IT ENDS, 2023; A TASTE OF HUNGER, 2021), rising talents Clint Ruben (UNRULY, 2023) and Johanne Milland Pedersen (VENUS EFFECT,2021), among others.
Synopsis
The series follows a team of investigative journalists at the highly respected documentary programme, Focal Point, as they unravel a story of injustice and power abuse.
Over the years the group has won major investigative journalism awards and spurred both political and social change. But lately, their stories haven’t had any real impact on the public agenda. Their broadcaster is threatening to close the programme, since it has become too expensive to produce deep-digging, slow journalism in a rapidly changing media landscape controlled by fast news.
OFF THE RECORD is a crime drama series consisting of six episodes in its first season. The series is created by Jenny Lund Madsen and directed by Jesper W. Nielsen. Produced by Nordisk Film Series by producers Camilla Hammerich and Trin Hjortkjær Thomsen with support from Public Service Puljen. David C. H. Østerbøg and Mette Nelund are TV 2 executive producers, while Katrine Vogelsang and Henrik Zein manage executive production for Nordisk Film Production A/S. OFF THE RECORD is in post-production. English script for the first two episodes is available.
