A diplomat's wife, Anna is the ever-courteous hostess. At the same time she is a desperado who suddenly perceives her existence as a question of life or death. In the throes of a tormenting existential crisis Anna leaves her husband and daughter in their house in Morocco. On a plane to Rome she meets Jørgen Schwer who is being police-escorted back to Denmark to a prison sentence. Their fates are interwoven in a dramatic flight through Europe, which they experience through wide-open senses born of desperation and a growing infatuation. The police are on their heels, but for Anna the flight becomes an experiment in unbounded freedom. How far does she dare to go?
