Danish production house Zentropa has started shooting the new drama THE DAY WILL COME on location in Denmark. Shooting will continue for a total of 9 weeks.
Starring a strong cast consisting of Lars Mikkelsen (THE KILLING, 2007 and HOUSE OF CARDS, 2015), Sofie Gråbøl (THE KILLING, 2007-2012 and FORTITUDE, 2015), Lars Ranthe (THE HUNT, 2012), Sonja Richter (THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES, 2013 and THE HOMESMAN, 2014), David Dencik (A ROYAL AFFAIR, 2010 and THE HOMESMAN) and many more, THE DAY WILL COME is a moving and poetic drama inspired by true events.
Set in the blooming 1960s, THE DAY WILL COME centers around two young brothers who are instantly robbed of their lives when they are placed in a boy´s home forgotten by time. Armed only with a vivid imagination and a fickle hope, the boys engage in the frightening battle against Headmaster Heck and his lethal tyranny.
The script for THE DAY WILL COME is developed and written by Søren Sveistrup.
As main writer and creator of numerous of award-winning TV-series such as NIKOLAJ & JULIE (2002-2003) and THE KILLING 2007-2012), Sveistrup has set an impressive and lasting mark on Danish TV-drama through more than a decade.
THE DAY WILL COME is directed by Jesper W. Nielsen. Nielsen previously directed the successful Danish drama OKAY (2002) which was nominated for the Golden Leopard and won the C.I.C.A.E. Award - Special Mention at Locarno Film Festival in 2002. Since then Nielsen has directed feature films such as THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY (2008) as well as numerous episodes for a number of TV-series including BORGEN (2011-2013) and DICTE (2014).
THE DAY WILL COME is produced by Peter Aalbæk Jensen, Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Louise Vesth for Zentropa Entertainments3 ApS in co-production with Film i Väst and Zentropa International Sweden.
