Helmer Nikolaj Arcel's pic about a royal love triangle stars Mads Mikkelsen as a lovestruck German doctor, Swedish thesp Alicia Vikander as the queen of Denmark and Mikkel Boe Folsgaard as the unhinged king. Vikander will next segue to a role in Warner Bros. THE SEVENTH SON starring Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore.
TrustNordisk is handling international sales on the DKK 46 million ($8.6 million) "Affair," which is set for a March release.
A ROYAL AFFAIR also features Danish thesp Trine Dyrholm (IN A BETTER WORLD) and Sweden's David Dencik (WAR HORSE)
Pic is penned by Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg, who also teamed on Niels Arden Oplev's THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO. Produced by Sisse Graum Jorgensen, Meta Louise Foldager and Aalbaek Jensen, the film is shooting in the Czech Republic and Germany.
