Copenhagen-based TrustNordisk has picked up international rights to the Danish drama “Home” by actor-turned director Marijana Jankovic (“The House That Jack Built”).
For her debut feature, Jankovic has assembled a high-profile cast that includes Claes Bang (“The Square”), Jesper Christensen (“Spectre”, “Casino Royal”), Trine Dyrholm (2024 Cannes competition title “The Girl With the Needle”), Dejan Cukic (“Snabba Cash”), Nada Sargin (“The Mould”), Zlatko Buric (“Triangle of Sadness”).
Based on a script co-penned by Jancovic with Bo Hr. Hansen, who co-penned Thomas Vinterberg’s upcoming “Families like Ours,” and Babak Vakili (“Outlaw”), the story is inspired by the director’s own experience and reflections on uprootedness.
At age 6, Jankovic moved from Montenegro to Denmark with her parents, but feeling homesick, she returned to her grandmother’s care. A year later, she and her siblings were brought back to Denmark, where she eventually settled.
Currently lensing between Serbia and Denmark, the film is due for delivery in 2025.
“Home” is produced by Mads-August Hertz for Nordisk Film Production, with support from the Danish Film Institute, FilmFyn, TV2 Denmark and Nordisk Film Distribution, which holds Scandinavian rights.
Jancovic’s 2019 short “Maja” won best short at Tribeca as well as other awards.
