Germany's NFP and the U.K.'s Metrodome have picked up distribution rights to Tarantino-esque action-comedy "JACKPOT" at the European Film Market, where Magnus Martens' film made its market preem.
Based on an original story by best-selling author Jo Nesbo, the pic was produced by Are Heidenstrom and Martin Sundland from Fantefilm Fiksjon. The shingle produced the "COLD PREY" horror-thriller trilogy, and is in post-production with epic action-adventure "ESCAPE."
"JACKPOT's" international sales are handled by TrustNordisk, which also announced sales for the fast-paced Icelandic thriller "BLACK'S GAME" to Germany's Koch Media, Benelux's Wild Bunch and Estonia's Estin Film. Oscar Thor Axelsson's debut feature, which played at the Rotterdam Film Festival, had previously been acquired by the U.K.'s eOne and Swiss distrib Frenetic Films.
TrustNordisk also announced that following a screening for buyers of a promo for Thomas Vinterberg's "THE HUNT," it had closed deals with Arrow Films in the U.K. and Wild Bunch for Benelux.
The film, which stars Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen as a man falsely accused by his local community who must fight to get his life back on track, is in post-production.
It is produced by Sisse Graum Jorgensen and Morten Kaufmann for Zentropa with support from the Danish Film Institute and DR.
Nordisk Film will handle local distribution.
