TRUSTNORDISK IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE AWARD FOR BEST ACTRESS TO KIRSTEN DUNST IN MELANCHOLIA

Sunday, this years´ Cannes Film Festival announced its prizes where Kirsten Dunst was awarded for her great performance in Lars von Trier´s competition film, MELANCHOLIA.  She gives a deeply felt performance as a newly-wed bride, Justine, while the planet Earth is on collision course with another planet. The character is a depressed young woman, and Dunst says that she “understood a little of what Justine was going through'” to the Mail Online.

 

She accepted the award saying: "Wow, what a week it's been... This is an honour that's once in a lifetime. Thank you to the Cannes Film Festival for allowing the film to still be in (the) competition... I want to thank Lars for giving me the opportunity to be so brave in this film. It's such a special night for me."

Dunst (1982) has earlier starred in ALL GOOD THINGS (2010), MARIE ANTOINETTE (2006), SPIDER-MAN (2002). She made her feature film debut in a segment of Woody Allen's NEW YORK STORIES (1989).


Other awards from Cannes Film Festival 2011 includes Palme d'Or - THE TREE OF LIFE (Terrence Malick, U.S.), Grand Prix - ONCE UPON A TIME IN ANATOLIA (Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Turkey) and THE KID WITH A BIKE (Jean-Luc and Pierre Dardenne, France), Director - Nicolas Winding Refn (DRIVE, U.S.), Jury Prize - POLISSE (Maiwenn, France) and Best Actor - Jean Dujardin (THE ARTIST, France).
