Distributors are standing in line to secure the rights to the upcoming thriller THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES based on the bestseller by Jussi Adler-Olsen.
TrustNordisk announced pre-sales on THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES last week and has already closed deals for the upcoming film series. NFP marketing & distribution is now on board as German distributor not only for the first film in the series, THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES, but also for the three forthcoming films in the series based on the books about Department Q. TrustNordisk has also sold the rights to the quadrilogy to Swiss distributor Frenetic Films.
Both deals were negotiated by Head of Sales at TrustNordisk, Susan Wendt: “The response to THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES has been amazing. It is fantastic already to have NFP on board for Germany and Frenetic for Switzerland; two very experienced distributors in releasing successful adaptations of internationally acclaimed novels.”
Christoph Ott, Vice President at NFP marketing & distribution, says: “We are thrilled, after the sensationally successful releases of the MILLENNIUM trilogy by Stieg Larsson, to be the German distributor of the films based on the best-selling books by Jussi Adler-Olsen in Germany and Austria.”
The first instalment in the Department Q-series will be brought to the big screen by award-winning scriptwriter Nikolaj Arcel, who wrote the screenplay for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2009) and recently won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlin International Film Festival for A ROYAL AFFAIR (2012), and director Mikkel Nørgaard, BORGEN (2010-2011), CLOWN - THE MOVIE (2010).
THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES revolves around the two policemen Carl Mørck and Hafez el Hassad who get involved in a five-year-old case concerning a missing woman, Merete, and soon they are on a journey through Scandinavia´s darkest corners to find a psychopathic killer.
