27-09-2012

In the wake of Toronto International Film Festival TrustNordisk has closed a number of deals on Tobias Lindholm´s feature A HIJACKING.

A HIJACKING has now been sold to UK (Arrow Films), France (Ad Vitam) and Turkey (Calinos Entertainment) and there are ongoing negotiations in a number of territories.

Tom Stewart, Head of Acquisitions at Arrow Films says:
"We're thrilled to be bringing this exceptional piece of film-making to both the UK and Ireland shores in 2013 and to be again collaborating with our friends at Trustnordisk and of course look forward to work closely with Tobias who has delivered such a strong and authentic powerful story."

Previous announced deals include Benelux (A-film) and Korea (Atnine Film).

Rikke Ennis, CEO at TrustNordisk says:
"We could not have hoped for a better start for A Hijacking. Not only has the reviews been overwhelming, but the film clearly also has a wide distribution potential internationally. Tobias Lindholm delivers a confident and impressive film and I have no doubt that he is capable of going all the way with his future projects."

A HIJACKING received excellent reviews by the international press when screening in Venice and Toronto earlier this month and the success continues domestically where A HIJACKING opened to rave reviews in the national media on September 20th.

Starring Pilou Asbæk (R, 2010, and BORGEN 2010-11), Søren Malling (THE KILLING, 2008, and BORGEN, 2010-11) and Dar Salim (GAME OF THRONES, 2011-), A HIJACKING focuses on the human consequences of modern piracy and takes its starting point when the cargo ship MV Rozen is captured by Somali pirates. Amongst the men on board are the ship´s cook Mikkel and the engineer Jan, who along with the rest of the seamen are taken hostage in a cynical game of life and death.

A HIJACKING is produced by Tomas Radoor and René Ezra for Nordisk Film with support from The Danish Film Institute, Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) and Nordic Film and TV Fund.
