We are pleased to announce that we have acquired the rights to Academy Award-winning scriptwriter and director, Anders Thomas Jensen’s upcoming Zentropa-feature RIDERS OF JUSTICE.
Similar to Anders Thomas Jensen’s previous films, RIDERS OF JUSTICE boasts an exclusive Scandinavian A-list cast starring Mads Mikkelsen (ANOTHER ROUND, 2020; ROUGE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, 2016), Nikolaj Lie Kaas (MEN & CHICKEN, 2015; YOU DISAPPEAR, 2017), Lars Brygmann (THAT TIME OF YEAR, 2018) and Nicolas Bro (ADAM’S APPLES, 2005; NYMPHOMANIAC, 2013) also featuring Gustav Lindh (QUEEN OF HEARTS, 2019), Roland Møller (PAPILLON, 2017; VALHALLA, 2019) and not least upcoming talent, Andrea Heick Gadeberg (DANIEL, 2019).
Shooting began on January 13th 2020. The budget for the film is 5.3 million Euro.
Anders Thomas Jensen has written more than 30 feature films in a wide variety of genres. His previous work includes collaborations with directors Susanne Bier, Lone Scherfig, Nikolaj Arcel and Niels Arden Oplev. Among others he wrote the script for Susanne Bier's Golden Globe - and Academy Award winner IN A BETTER WORLD (2010).
Anders Thomas Jensen’s directorial style is characterized by dark humor, unique storytelling and a quirky universe. His features, FLICKERING LIGHTS (2000), THE GREEN BUTCHERS (2003) and ADAM’S APPLES (2005) were all in the searchlight of international buyers and proved successful in and beyond the local market. In 2003 Anders Thomas Jensen was awarded an Honorary Bodil Award for his overall achievement in Danish cinema.

Synopsis:
The deployed military man Markus has to go home to his teenage daughter, Mathilde, when his wife dies in a tragic train accident. It seems to be plain bad luck – until the mathematics geek Otto shows up with his two eccentric colleagues, Lennart and Emmenthaler. Otto was also a passenger on the wrecked train. He is convinced someone must have been behind it. As the clues piles up, it becomes clear to Markus, it might have been a carefully orchestrated assassination, which his wife ended up being a random casualty of.
Anders Thomas Jensen’s new comedy is a modern fable about solidarity, the randomness of the universe ... and, well, the meaning of life.
RIDERS OF JUSTICE is written and directed by Anders Thomas Jensen and produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Sidsel Hybschmann for Zentropa Entertainments3. The film is co-produced by Film I Väst and Zentropa Sweden with support from the Danish Film Institute/ Market Scheme, FilmFyn, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, The Media Programme of the European Union, in collaboration with YouSee, TV 2 DENMARK, YLE and SVT.
