CANNES- TrustNordisk has acquired international sales rights to Roar Uthaug´s disaster movie “The Wave” and will start shopping it at the AFM.
An epic Scandinavian movie based on true events, “The Wave” centers around an experienced geologist who faces an imminent disaster. With less than 10 minutes to react, it becomes a race against time in order to save as many as possible.
The movie´s plot expands on geological predictions that a Tsunami similar to the one that hit Norway 80 years ago will happen again.
Pic toplines Kristoffer Joner (“All That Matters is Past”) and Ane Dahl Torp (“1001 Grams”). Uthaug´s credits include “Cold Prey” and “Escape.”
Pic is lead-produced by Norway´s FanteFilm Fiksjon, which is becoming a leading purveyor of large-scale Scandinavian genre films.
“The Wave” is produced by Martin Sundland and Are Heidenstrøm for Fantefilm Fiksjon, in co-production with Fuzz, Filmkraft Invest, Storyline Studios, Film i Väst and Gimpville. The Norwegian Film Institute and Nordic Film & TV Fund backed the feature.
Nordisk Film Distribution will release the film in fall 2015.
