The
1980s-set tale about three Stockholm teens who form a punk band had its world
premiere in Venice.
Lukas Moodysson´s We Are
The Best! continues to rack up distribution deals, with TrustNordisk
closing for Australia (NewVision Films), Italy (Bim Distribuzione) and Taiwan
(Maison Motion) after the film's screenings at the Toronto Film Festival.
The feature, Moodysson´s adaptation of his wife Coco´s graphic novel, had
pre-sold to multiple territories, including the UK (Metrodome), Benelux
(Wildbunch) and Switzerland (Frenetic Films).
Set in Stockholm in the 1980s, We Are The Best! follows teenage
girls Bobo, Klara and Hedvig as they form a punk band, even though the world
thinks punk is long dead.
Produced by Lars Jonsson for Memfis Film and co-produced with Film I
Vast, SVT and Zentropa, We Are The Best! had its world premiere at the
Venice International Film Festival and will open in Sweden Oct. 11.
