MELANCHOLIA has been selected by Toronto International Film Festival to screen in the Special Presentation section.
The film celebrated its World Premiere in Competition in Cannes 2011, where Kirsten Dunst won the prize of Best Actress for her performance. MELANCHOLIA is sold out internationally with distributor Magnolia on board covering North America. US release of MELANCHOLIA is set to November 11th 2011.
MELANCHOLIA is written and directed by von Trier and produced by Meta Louise Foldager and Louise Vesth for Zentropa Entertainments27. Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kiefer Sutherland lead a stellar international cast including Alexander Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, Stellan Skarsgård, Udo Kier and Jesper Christensen.
Executive producers are Peter Aalbaek Jensen and Peter Garde. Co-producers are Lars Jönsson for Memfis Film International, Madeleine Ekman for Zentropa International Sweden, Marianne Slot for Slot Machine / Liberator Productions and Bettina Brokemper for Zentropa International Köln. Toronto International Film Festival takes place during September 8th-18th. CEO Rikke Ennis, Head of Sales Susan Wendt and Sales Manager Nicolai Korsgaard will be attending.
