THE SHAMER´S DAUGHTER, based on the first book in the bestselling book-series, The Shamer Chronicles, by author Lene Kaaberbøl, whose books have been published in more than 25 countries world-wide, will be adapted for the screen.
TrustNordisk will kick off presales on the fantasy/adventure film at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival.
THE SHAMER´S DAUGHTER will be brought to the big screen with screenplay by Academy Award®-winner Anders Thomas Jensen (IN A BETTER WORLD, 2010) and directed by Danish director Kenneth Kainz (PURE HEARTS, 2006).
Starring an all-star Scandinavian cast led by Peter Plaugborg (THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES, 2012; SUBMARINO, 2010), Jakob Oftebro (KON-TIKI, 2012; IN ORDER OF DISAPPEARANCE, 2014), Søren Malling (A HIJACKING, 2012; BORGEN 2010-2013), Maria Bonnevie (A SECOND CHANCE, 2014), Stina Ekblad (A RATIONAL SOLUTION, 2009; LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED, 2012) and Allan Hyde (TRUE BLOOD, 2009-2012), THE SHAMER´S DAUGHTER is set for shooting start on February 27th.
The Shamer´s daughter, Dina, has unwillingly inherited her mother´s supernatural ability. She can look straight into the soul of other people, making them feel ashamed of themselves. When the sole heir to the throne is wrongfully accused of the horrible murders of his family, Dina´s mother is lured to Dunark under false pretenses to make him confess. Neglecting to use her ability for the wrong purposes, she is taken prisoner. It is now up to Dina to uncover the truth of the murders, but soon she finds herself whirled into a dangerous power struggle with her own life at risk.

THE SHAMER´S DAUGHTER is produced by Nina Lyng and Eva Juel Hammerich from Nepenthe Film in co-operation with Nordisk Film Distribution/executive producer Lone Korslund.
Eva Juel Hammerich and Nina Lyng (producers) have previously produced such films as SHROOMS (2006), EVERGREEN (2007), NO TIME FOR LOVE (2009) and SOMETHING IN THE AIR (2011). Nina Lyng was also co-producer on the Swedish films ARN: THE KNIGHT TEMPLAR (2007) and ARN: THE KINGDOM AT THE END OF THE ROAD (2008).
Lone Korslund (executive producer) has been involved in high profile projects and adaptations coming out of Scandinavia in recent years, such as the MILLENNIUM-trilogy (2008,2009) based on the bestsellers by Stieg Larsson, The EASY MONEY-trilogy (2010, 2012, 2013) based on the bestselling books by Jens Lapidus, HEADHUNTERS (2011) based on the bestselling book by Jo Nesbø and KON-TIKI (2012).
THE SHAMER´S DAUGHTER is produced by Nina Lyng and Eva Juel Hammerich from Nepenthe Film in co-production with Nordisk Film Distribution, Storm Films, Filmlance, True North, Sirena Film with support from The Danish Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, NFI, EURIMAGES, Czech Republic State Cinematography Fund and Denmark´s Radio in co-operation with EU Media Programme.
Domestic release is set for spring 2015 through Nordisk Film Distribution.
