Merely a month and a half has passed since the premiere of Zentropa´s irrevocable last Department Q-feature THE PURITY OF VENGEANCE, directed by Christoffer Boe. The film has performed historically well in the Danish cinemas, and today Zentropa and Nordisk Film Distribution announced that the film has set the record as the highest grossing domestic film in Danish cinemas to this date. Until last night the film has had a turnover of DKK 72,5 mill, thereby surpassing the previous record holder -the second installment in Zentropa´s Department Q-quadrilogy, The Absent One - which reached a turnover of DKK 68.1 M.

Great joy at Zentropa
Zentropa is obviously very excited for the new record. Producer Louise Vesth, who has now produced the domestically top five grossing Danish films, says: "It´s a wonderful record. We wanted to end the Department Q franchise on the top, and it´s fantastic that the film has been so well received by its audience, and has now secured a spot in the history of Danish cinema until this record will be beaten sometime in the future. The film will continue to run in cinemas well into 2019, so we´re not even done yet. We´re lucky to have talented scriptwriters, directors, and actors able to reach this level".
As an additional note, The Purity of Vengeance has sold more than 730.384 tickets.
The Purity of Vengeance is expected continue playing in Danish cinemas until at least January 2019.
