THE HUNT AND A ROYAL AFFAIR NOMINATED FOR EFA AWARDS

The European Film Academy has announced the nominations for this year´s European Film Awards and among the contenders for the prestigious awards, which is presented annually and recognizes excellence in European cinematic achievements, are Thomas Vinterberg´s THE HUNT which has been nominated for 5 European Film Awards and Nikolaj Arce´s A ROYAL AFFAIR which has been nominated for 2 European Film Awards.

Thomas Vinterberg´s Cannes Competition film THE HUNT has been nominated for the prestigious awards in the following categories:
 
-    European Film
-    European Director (Thomas Vinterberg)
-    European Screenwriter (Thomas Vinterberg & Tobias Lindholm)
-    European Actor (Mads Mikkelsen)
-    European Editor (Anne Østerud & Janus Billeskov Jansen)

THE HUNT was praised by buyers, audience and critics at its World Premiere in Cannes International Film Festival where the film among others won the Best Actor Award (Mads Mikkelsen) and deals were closed with more than 65 countries. THE HUNT has continued its strong festival life at festivals in Toronto, Busan and London and is currently screening at the AFI in Los Angeles.

THE HUNT is produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Morten Kaufmann for Zentropa Entertainments19 in co-production with Film i Väst and Zentropa International Sweden with support from The Danish Film Institute, Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Eurimages, Nordic Film & TV Fund, The Swedish Film Institute, Swedish Television and the MEDIA programme of the European Union.
Domestic release is set for January 10th 2013 through Nordisk Film Distribution.

Nikolaj Arce´s historical drama A ROYAL AFFAIR which is also selected as the Danish submission for the Academy Awards® has been nominated for two EFA awards in the categories European Production Designer (Niels Sejer) and European Composer (Gabriel Yared & Cyrille Aufort).

A ROYAL AFFAIR was selected for Competition at this year´s Berlinale, taking home two Silver Bears for Best Screenplay (Nikolaj Arcel & Rasmus Heisterberg) and Best Actor (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) and it has continued its festival streak at e.g. Telluride Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. A ROYAL AFFAIR has become the highest grossing Danish language film in the UK and Australia and will open in the US on November 9th through distributor Magnolia. The film is currently screening at AFI in Los Angeles.

A ROYAL AFFAIR is produced by Louise Vesth, Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Meta Foldager for Zentropa Entertainments28 with executive producers Lars von Trier, Peter Aalbæk Jensen and Peter Garde in cooperation with Trollhättan Film AB and Film i Väst in Sweden, Sirena Film in The Czech Republic and Zentropa Entertainments Berlin. The film is  also supported by West Danish Film Fund, Swedish Television, Czech Film Commission under Ministerstvo Kultury, MDM Leipzig Film Fund, Nordisk Film & TV-Fond, Eurimages and The Media Programme of the European Union.

The European Film Academy will announce this year´s winners at the 25th European Film Awards which will take place in Malta on December 1st 2012.
