THE GUILTY HITS HIGH AT THE DANISH BOX OFFICE

17-07-2018

THE GUILTY by debut director Gustav Möller has played in Danish cinemas for four weeks by now and even though the Summer has arrived, as in most of Europe, the Danish audience hasn´t seem to let down.

We are proud to announce that THE GUILTY has sold almost 100.000 tickets and is currently the third most watched film in the Danish cinemas.

The Film competed at this year´s Sundance Film Festival and was awarded with the Audience award, followed by several other festivals and awards such as Rotterdam International Film Festival where it received the Audience Award and Beaune Film Festival where it won the Critic's Prize.

In THE GUILTY we follow alarm dispatcher and former police officer, Asger Holm, who answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. When the call is suddenly disconnected, the search for the woman and her kidnapper begins. With the phone as his only tool, Asger enters a race against time to save the endangered woman. But soon he realizes that he is dealing with a crime that is far bigger than he first thought.

In THE GUILTY the camera stays with the protagonist Asger throughout the whole film, thereby letting the audience experience everything as he does. Through sound, the film plays with the audiences imagination and allows them to create their own images of the outside world and the escalating kidnapping

The film stars Jakob Cedergreen (TERRIBLY HAPPY, 2008; SUBMARINO, 2010) in the predominant lead and is besides being and intense crime thriller also a radical film experiment that takes place in real time in one location, a local emergency call center.

The film is sold world wide and next up to release is France / ARP and Belgium / September Film Rights, tomorrow July 18th and and later The Netherlands / September Film Rights release August 9th and Germany / Ascot Elite AG on October 18th, just to mention a few.

THE GUILTY is produced by Lina Flint for Nordisk Film SPRING in collaboration with Nordisk Film Production A/S with support from The Danish Film Institute, New Danish Screen.
