Teaser material for the highly anticipated Scandinavian film THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES has been revealed today by production company Zentropa.

THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES will be released domestically on October 3rd and is the first film in the upcoming franchise based on the bestselling book series about Department Q by author Jussi Adler-Olsen.
Starring Nikolaj Lie Kaas (ANGELS & DEMONS, 2009) and Fares Fares (SAFE HOUSE, 2012 and ZERO DARK THIRTY, 2013), THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES tells the story of chief detective Carl Mørck and his assistant Assad who become involved in a five-year-old case concerning the mystery of politician Merete Lynggaard´s disappearance - a journey that takes them deep into the undercurrent of abuse and malice that lurks beneath the polished surface of Scandinavia.
THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES was introduced to buyers at this year´s European Film Market in Berlin and a large number of deals were closed based on a 3 minute promo. Further deals were added after closed work in progress market screenings in Cannes a month ago and so far THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES and its sequels have been sold to territories such as the UK (Arrow Films), Australia and New Zealand (Madman Entertainment), Germany and Austria (NFP Distribution), Benelux (Lumiere), Switzerland (Frenetic Films), Czech Republic (Aerofilms), Poland (Kino Swiat), Russia (Silverbox) and China (HGC Entertainment) with more territories currently in negotiation.
THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES is directed by Mikkel Nørgaard (KLOWN, 2010), with screenplay by Nikolaj Arcel who wrote and directed A ROYAL AFFAIR (2012) and who also wrote the script for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2009).
The film is produced by Louise Vesth for the Zentropa Group in co-production with Zentropa Entertainments Berlin and Zentropa International Sweden in cooperation with TV2 Denmark, ZDF German Television Network, ZDF Enterprises, Film i Väst and TV2 Norway with support from the Danish Film Institute, Eurimages, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Allerød Kommune developed with support from the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
Domestic release on THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES is set for October 3rd 2013 through Nordisk Film Distribution. TrustNordisk handles international sales.

THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES was published in 2007 and is so far followed by four books in the series about Department Q. The books have been awarded with numerous prizes and have been placed on several bestseller lists both nationally and internationally.
