San Sebastian Film Festival selects Björn Runge drama for Competition

Once again Swedish director Björn Runge brings a feature film to a prestigious competition.

The director, who won the Silver Bear in Berlin in 2004 for DAYBREAK, is this time going to San Sebastian to present his latest feature HAPPY END, which is the third part of Björn Runge´s trilogy of liberation, commenced with DAYBREAK (2003) and MOUTH TO MOUTH (2005) - films about people who are trying to liberate themselves from destructivity.

HAPPY END is a fairytale for adults about five people who currently stands at the crossroad that forever will change the paths of their lives. Jonna, Peter, Katrine, Asger and Mårten are all people with an important liaison to one another, but who are avoiding to be truthful. They are all living in a world of shadows, lined by lies and falsities and are only waiting for the truth to appear so that they may be able to continue their lives in another direction.

HAPPY END presents some of the finest acting talents in Sweden; Ann Petrén, Gustaf Skarsgård, Peter Andersson, David Dencik, Johan Widerberg and Malin Buska and script is written by award-winning Kim Fupz Aakeson, who´s know for titles such as THE ONE AND ONLY (1999), MINOR MISHAPS (2002), IN YOUR HANDS (2004) and A SOMEWHAT GENTLE MAN (2010).

Producers are Madeleine Ekman and Martin Persson from Zentropa International Sweden AB, Zentropa´s Peter Aalbæk Jensen and Peter Garde are executive producers and Sisse Graum Jørgensen is co-producer.

HAPPY END is supported by Swedish Film Institute / consultant Lars G. Lindström and is released domestically September 23rd this year.
