TrustNordisk is happy to announce that we have now officially acquired the sales rights for Hans Petter Moland´s upcoming feature OUT STEALING HORSES, which he has both written and will direct. Moland is an award winning director with an impressive CV, with three of his films selected for competition at the Berlin International Film Festival, THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY (2004), A SOMEWHAT GENTLE MAN (2010), and IN ORDER OF DISAPPEARANCE (2014).
OUT STEALING HORSES will star internationally acclaimed actor Stellan Skarsgård in the leading role. Skarsgård is known for his roles in numerous Lars von Trier films such as BREAKING THE WAVES (1996), MELANCHOLIA (2011) and NYMPHOMANIAC: VOL I + II (2013). Skarsgård has also previously starred in a leading role in Hans Petter Moland´s award winning IN ORDER OF DISAPPEARENCE (2014). The film will further star Bjørn Floberg (INSOMNIA, 1997; KINGSMAN: SECRET SERVICE, 2014) and Anders Baasmo Christiansen (KON-TIKI, 2012; IN ORDER OF DISAPPEARANCE, 2014; THE KING´S CHOICE, 2016), among others.
The film is based on Per Petterson´s world famous and bestselling novel of the same name. The novel has received several important international awards, among them the Dublin IMPAC Award 2007 and the 2006 Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, and was further named ”One of the 5 Best Fiction Books 2007” by The New York Times.
November 1999. 67-year-old Trond lives in new-found solitude and looks forward to spending New Year´s Eve 2000 alone. As winter arrives he discovers he has a neighbor, a man Trond knew back in 1948, the summer he turned 15 and the summer Trond´s father prepared him to carry the burden of his forthcoming betrayal and disappearance. And also the summer Trond grew up and smelled the scent of a woman he longed for. The same woman Trond´s father was preparing to spend his life with.
The film will go into the first shooting phase on February 19th and the final shooting will take place in June or July.
