Copenhagen, 30 October 2024 - TrustNordisk proudly announces its latest pick-up ‘THE CHILDREN OF SILVER  STREET’ — a delightful and heartwarming film for the entire family. The story follows four siblings living alone in an  apartment on Silver Street in Copenhagen after their mother goes missing. Together, they navigate life while trying  to remain under the radar of authorities who might separate them. Using all their creativity and teamwork, the  children work to keep their secret and navigate the challenges of the adult world. The film balances suspense and  humor, showcasing the strength of unity and sibling love in difficult times.

 

Outstanding reception from the local audience and critics

It has been an incredible start for Mehdi Avaz and Rocket Road Pictures' new family film THE CHILDREN OF SILVER  STREET, based on Renée Toft Simonsen's book of the same name. The film has received some of the best reviews  for a Danish live-action family film in years and has successfully drawn audiences into theaters since its local  release on 10 October 2024.

Since its premiere, THE CHILDREN OF SILVER STREET has consistently held the top spot at the Danish box office. As of 29 October, it has sold an impressive 153,524 tickets in Danish cinemas, with admission numbers continuing to  rise, as children and their families continue to flock to the theaters.

About the Film

THE CHILDREN OF SILVER STREET is directed by Mehdi Avaz, known for his successful Netflix films TOSCANA (2022) and A BEAUTIFUL LIFE (2023), both of which reached number one on Netflix's global charts. A BEAUTIFUL LIFE notably featured pop singer Christopher, contributing to a wide viewership outside of Europe.

Screenwriter Renée Toft Simonsen is behind the film's screenplay and authored the original book, published in 2019. In addition to THE CHILDREN OF SILVER STREET, Simonsen has published a wide range of books, including the popular children's book series about a young girl named Karla, three of these have been adapted into films  KARLAS WORLD (2007), KARLA & KATRINE (2009) and KARLA & JONAS (2009).

THE CHILDREN OF SILVER STREET is produced by Stephanie Wiese for Rocket Road Pictures. Wiese previously collaborated with Mehdi Avaz on TOSCANA (2022), showcasing a strong creative synergy that has contributed to the success of their projects.

Synopsis

11-year-old Katinka lives alone with her three siblings in an apartment in Silver Street. Here, they can decide for  themselves when to go to bed, if they feel like brushing their teeth, or do their homework. That's how it's been ever  since their mother disappeared a year ago. But when their absent mother starts to arouse suspicion from the  school principal, the siblings devise a clever plan to avoid being discovered and sent to an orphanage: They will  hire a housekeeper. When they choose the colorful Miss Nelly - a male housekeeper in a skirt and high heels - the  plan changes completely.
