'THE PROMISED LAND' BY NIKOLAJ ARCEL OFFICIALLY SELECTED AS DENMARK'S OSCAR® ENTRY
We are thrilled to announce that the Danish Oscar Committee has confirmed that Nikolaj Arcel's highly anticipated and critically acclaimed THE PROMISED LAND, produced by Zentropa, is Denmark's official Oscar® entry for Best International Feature Film.
Copenhagen, DK, September 26 2023 - The nominations for the Oscars® will be announced in the new year, on 23 January 2024, and the ceremony will take place on 10 March 2024 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The US distributor, Magnolia Pictures will qualify THE PROMISED LAND in all categories including Best Picture and Best Actor for star Mads Mikkelsen.
THE PROMISED LAND marks Nikolaj Arcel's return to Danish cinema for the first time since his the Oscar®-nominated 'A ROYAL AFFAIR' (2012). Alongside the world-renowned actor Mads Mikkelsen, the film stars the talented Amanda Colin (RAISED BY WOLVES, 2020-22), Simon Bennebjerg (BORGEN, 2022), together with Gustav Lindh (RIDERS OF JUSTICE, 2020; QUEEN OF HEARTS, 2019) and Kristine Kujath Thorp (SICK OF MYSELF, 2022). The feature is co-written by Arcel and acclaimed Danish screenwriter and director Anders Thomas Jensen (RIDERS OF JUSTICE, 2020).
Following its highly successful world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, THE PROMISED LAND has received widespread acclaim on the global stage, captivating both audiences and critics. The film has been selected for prestigious festivals such as Telluride, Toronto, San Sebastian, and Busan International Film Festival.
