We are proud to announce that Gustav Möller´s debut feature THE GUILTY has been selected for the prestigious World Dramatic Competition at Sundance Film Festival 2018.
Susan Wendt, Director Of International Sales & Marketing at TrustNordisk, says "We are happy and excited about representing a Danish feature film selected for competition at Sundance. Gustav is a very talented director and Sundance is the perfect place for an up-and-coming director such as himself. The film will also get the attention it really deserves. We congratulate both Gustav and the whole team behind The Guilty with this great achievement."
In THE GUILTY we follow alarm dispatcher and former police officer, Asger Holm, who answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. When the call is suddenly disconnected, the search for the woman and her kidnapper begins. With the phone as his only tool, Asger enters a race against time to save the endangered woman. But soon he realizes that he is dealing with a crime that is far bigger than he first thought.
The film stars Jakob Cedergreen (TERRIBLY HAPPY, 2008; SUBMARINO, 2010) in the predominant lead and is besides being and intense crime thriller also a radical film experiment that takes place in real time in one location, a local emergency call center.
In THE GUILTY the camera stays with the protagonist Asger throughout the whole film, thereby letting the audience experience everything as he does. Through sound, the film plays with the audiences imagination and allows them to create their own images of the outside world and the escalating kidnapping.
The last Danish feature film to be selected for the World Dramatic Competition at Sundance Film Festival was Mads Matthiesen´s TEDDY BEAR which won the World Cinema Directing Award: Dramatic back in 2012.
Sundance Film Festival takes place between 18-28th of January and will be attended by Susan Wendt, Director Of International Sales & Marketing at TrustNordisk.
THE GUILTY is produced by Lina Flint for Nordisk Film SPRING in collaboration with Nordisk Film Production A/S with support from The Danish Film Institute, New Danish Screen.
The film will be released locally on June 14th 2018.
