It clearly underlines the high quality of the film and the international appreciation of Michael Noer´s distinct visual style and storytelling carried out in this new feature.´

BEFORE THE FROST is a captivating dark period tale by award-winning director Michael Noer, who made his return to Danish film with this new drama after his screen adaption PAPILLON (2017) based on author Henri Charrière´s biographical bestseller of the same name.

Synopsis:

The harsh circumstances and with the prospect of yet another tough winter, Jens must make an unbearable choice. If the family is to survive he must settle an agreement with the wealthy farmer at the nearby farm and forsake his own moral and the most precious he owns, in an effort to secure them all a better life.

A tour-de-force performance from veteran Danish actor Jesper Christensen fully anchors Before the Frost.
