TrustNordisk is excited to share that three of our latest features have been selected for the 39th Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Copenhagen, 16 January 2024 – Santa Barbara International Film Festival has announced the 2024 line-up, including three of TrustNordisk titles. This year's SBIFF will mark the international premiere of the teen drama MR. FREEMAN, directed by Mads Matthiesen, and the US premiere of the World War II drama BEFORE IT ENDS, directed by Anders Walter, and the suspense drama BIRTHDAY GIRL, directed by Michael Noer.
International premiere at Santa Barbara for MR. FREEMAN
The teen drama will celebrate its international premiere at the upcoming Festival. The feature, starring the established Nicolas Bro (RIDERS OF JUSTICE, 2020) and the talented Mia Lyhne (KLOWN, 2010) alongside the upcoming talents Lina Lund Jørgensen and Daouda Keita, had a successful local release a week ago, collecting a number of enthusiastic reviews from the local papers.

US premiere at Santa Barbara for BEFORE IT ENDS and BIRTHDAY GIRL
BEFORE IT ENDS had its local premiere 24 August 2023 and became one of the bestselling Danish features in cinemas, for the entire 2023, with more than 290.000 admissions. BIRTHDAY GIRL world premiered at Zürich international film festival and will have its local premiere April 4. 2024. Both features will celebrate their US premiere at SBIFF.
The World War II drama BEFORE IT ENDS, is directed by Oscar celebrated Anders Walter, known for academy award winner HELIUM (2013) and nominated IVALU (2023), and stars GAMES OF THRONES-star Pilou Asbæk alongside Katrine Greis-Rosenthal (A TASTE OF HUNGER, 2021), Ulrich Thomsen (BANSHEE, 2013-16) and Morten Hee Andersen (THE PROMISED LAND, 2023)

The suspense drama BIRTHDAY GIRL, is directed by Michael Noer known for festival celebrated titles such as R (2010), BEFORE THE FROST (2018) and NORTWEST (2013), and features Berlin Silver Bear-winning Danish actress Trine Dyrholm (QUEEN OF HEARTS, 2019) in the lead alongside San Sebastián Silver Seashell-winner Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl (AS IN HEAVEN, 2021) and Norwegian SHAME-darling Herman Tømmeraas (RAGNAROK, 2020-2021; SHAME, 2015-17). The film celebrates its US premiere during Santa Barbara.
Both features will also screen at the upcoming Göteborg Film Festival as part of the Gala section, the leading film festival in Scandinavia.
