PRESS RELEASE: ALAMODE FILM PRE-BUYS THE DIVINE ORDER

28-11-2016

We are thrilled to announce that Alamode Film has picked up Swiss dramedy, THE DIVINE ORDER for Germany and Austria.

Managing Director at Alamode Film Distribution, Fabien Arséguel says: “We are very happy to distribute Petra Volpe´s new film THE DIVINE ORDER in Germany and Austria!

Switzerland was the last country in Europe to grant women the right to vote. Telling a story about the struggle for this fundamental democratic right - an important achievement that we take for granted today - seems more relevant than ever to me in the light of growing populist and demagogic movements all around the western world. The film reminds us of our values in an entertaining and emotional way.

We are looking forward to working closely together with Trust Nordisk in order to present THE DIVINE ORDER to German and Austrian audiences.”

Besides Alamode Film, DD Dream picked up the Chinese rights for the film during AFM.

THE DIVINE ORDER is a heartfelt and captivating story about the fight for equal rights for women in Switzerland in 1971. It portrays Nora, a young housewife and mother, living in a quaint little village with her husband and their two sons.

The Swiss countryside is untouched by the major social upheavals the movement of 1968 has brought about. Nora´s life is not affected either; she is a quiet person who is liked by everybody - until she starts to publicly fight for women´s suffrage, which the men are due to vote on in a ballot on February 7, 1971.

The film is produced by Reto Schaerli and Lukas Hobi for Zodiac Pictures, co-produced by Swiss Radio and Television and Teleclub with support from Swiss Federal Office of Culture, Zurich Film Foundation, Canton of Aargau, Lucerne and Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Suissimage and Migros Kulturprozent.

Domestic release is set for March 9th 2017.
