Leonardo DiCaprio could potentially star in the English-language take on the Danish crowd-pleaser that stars Mads Mikkelsen as a day-drinking high school teacher.
Endeavor Content, Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way and Brad Weston's Makeready have picked up the English-language remake rights to Thomas Vinterberg's Another Round (Druk), the Danish dramedy that won the Oscar for best international film on Sunday night, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Endeavor and Makeready are set to finance the movie remake that potentially could star DiCaprio. The Hunt director Vinterberg's Danish dramedy stars Mads Mikkelsen as a day-drinking high school teacher who endures a midlife crisis driven by alcohol abuse.
Vinterberg, who also co-wrote Another Round, is set to executive produce the English-language remake alongside Sisse Graum Jorgensen and Kasper Dissing. Selected for the Cannes 2020 Label, Another Round also screened at the Toronto and San Sebastian film festivals and opened in Danish theaters in September 2020.
TrustNordisk has sold the original Another Round movie worldwide. Produced by Zentropa Entertainments, Film i Vast, Zentropa Sweden and Topkapi Films, Another Round also stars Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang, Lars Ranthe and Maria Bonnevie.
Vinterberg is repped by ICM Partners and Independent Talent Group.
