NORDIC FOOD, FILMS AND MUSIC ARE ON THE MENU AT THE WORLD´S # 1 FILM FESTIVAL

In the Nordic region parties at home have a tendency to move where people meet, mingle and socialize; the kitchen. To celebrate the indisputable current success of Nordic films and TV-series, the kitchen party has moved to the biggest and busiest market; Cannes.

Nordic films and TV-series such as BLACK´S GAME, HEADHUNTERS, A ROYAL AFFAIR, LE HAVRE, IRON SKY, BORGEN, THE KILLING and THE BRIDGE are very much flavours of the moment on the international scene. Thomas Vinterberg´s Cannes competition title THE HUNT, Stefan Constantinescu´s and Roberto Duarte´s Critic´s Week titles DINNER WITH THE FAMILY and DE BORTKLIPPTE along with Morten Helgeland´s SLUG INVASION, screening at The Cinefondation Selection, and many other Nordic films screening at the market are set to join them on world screens.

To celebrate these successes and to share a friendly moment with those who are making it possible, Scandinavian Films, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, the Nordic Council of Ministers´ New Nordic Food initiative along with the sales companies Svensk Filmindustri, TrustNordisk, NonStop Sales, LevelK, and The Yellow Affair are inviting (by invitation only) key international distributors and festival programmers to open their senses to other Nordic specialities in an informal, homelike get together.

An array of outstanding fresh Nordic food from the restaurant chain Cofoco, specialised in Nordic cuisine, will be served in an unconventional way while jazz music will be performed by Swedish/Icelandic singer and actress Edda Magnason, who plays the leading role in MONICA Z - A LINGONBERRY IN A COCKTAIL, the new Swedish film by the award-winning Danish director Per Fly.

“The Scandinavian countries have a long and successful cooperation in promoting Nordic films abroad. The Nordic countries share history and values, and in joining forces, we think that we can reinforce the strong branding of Scandinavian Films. As Scandinavian films and TV-dramas are raising interest all over the world, we wish to greet our international contacts in a new and inspiring way with the tastes from the Nordic kitchen” says CEO of the Norwegian Film Institute Nina Refseth, who will welcome the guests at the Cannes event.

“The aim of the NORDIC KITCHEN PARTY is to help strengthen the Nordic Film Industries´ presence in Cannes by offering international film guests a taste of the innovative Nordic Cuisine. Nordic Food and Nordic Film are frontrunners in their respective line of business, and film, just like food, is a wonderful cultural passport which brings the world closer to our Nordic region,” says Charlotta Ranert from New Nordic Food.
