The Wagner/Cuban Company's Magnolia Pictures announced today, that they have pre-bought North American rights to HEADHUNTERS, a gritty and exciting thriller directed by Morten Tyldum, based off the popular Norwegian book by Jo Nesbø. “Morten Tyldum´s HEADHUNTERS promises to be a nail-biting thriller that resonates with US audiences much like Tell No One and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo have,” said Magnolia SVP Tom Quinn. “We are so excited to be in business with the wonderful TrustNordisk on this film.”

"Jo Nesbø's HEADHUNTERS is one of the most powerful titles from the Nordic countries and it has a huge potential to travel abroad,” said TrustNordisk CEO Rikke Ennis. “It is a sexy, nervewracking and great film and signing a deal now with a great partner like Magnolia only underlines its potential. We are very proud and can't wait to see the reactions from the American audience."

HEADHUNTERS stars the talented Aksel Hennie (Max Manus) as Roger, a charming scoundrel and Norway's most accomplished headhunter. Roger is living a life of luxury well beyond his means, and stealing art to subsidize his expensive lifestyle. When his beautiful gallery owner wife introduces him to a former mercenary in the possession of an extremely valuable painting, he decides to risk it all to get his hands on it, and in doing so discovers something which makes him a hunted man.

HEADHUNTERS is due to be released theatrically in Norway this summer. Magnolia plans to also release the film theatrically later this year. The deal was negotiated by Magnolia SVP Tom Quinn and VP of Acquisitions Dori Begley with Susan Wendt of Trust Nordisk.
