CANNES - Jonathan Rhys Meyers has joined the cast of Harald Zwart´s “The 12th Man,” a WWII-set drama telling the true story of Norwegian resistance hero Jan Baalsrud.
Sold by TrustNordisk and scripted by Petter Skavlan (“Kon-Tiki”), “The 12th Man” chronicles the journey of Baalsrud, who was the only one out of 12 resistance fighters, to escape the Germans following a failed raid at Bardufoss in 1943.
“This has been a shared passion project of Harald and Veslemoey and I am honored to be taking part in this great Norwegian adventure,” said Rhys Meyers.
Rhys Meyers (“The Tudors,” “Roots”), will star as the German lead Kurt Stage. Nordisk Film led-produced the film with Zwart Arbeid.
Deal was negotiated on behalf of Nordisk and Zwart Arbeid by producer Veslemoey Ruud Zwart.
