HUNT snares territory sales

Danish director Thomas Vinterberg's competish film THE HUNT is racking up international sales with a wave of market and industry buzz following official screenings over the weekend.

Italy's BIM Distribuzione is the latest of 20 countries to ink with sales company TrustNordisk.

"The reviews have been overwhelming and so has the interest from buyers. We are happy and proud that this film will get a worldwide release and hope that the international audience will embrace the film as much as the industry here in Cannes," said Rikke Ennis, TrustNordisk CEO.

Film, which had earlier sold key territories including the U.K. (Arrow Films), Benelux (Wild Bunch) and France (Pretty Pictures), has added Russia (Russian Report), Poland (KinoSwiat), Romania (Independenta Film 97), Czech Republic and Slovakia (Cinemart), Greece (Seven Films), Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay (Speed Well), Israel (Lev Cinemas), Colombia (Babille Cin), and former Yugoslavia and Albania (Cinemania group).Pic, written by Thomas Vinterberg and Tobias Lindholm and starring Mads Mikkelsen, tells the story of a man who fights against a lie that threatens to destroy his life.

Produced by Sisse Graum Jorgensen and Morten Kaufmann for Zentropa in co-production with Film i Vast and Zentropa Intl. Sweden, film is also supported by the Danish Film Institute, Danish Broadcasting Corp., Eurimages, Nordic Film and TV Fund, the Swedish Film Institute, Swedish Television and the EU Media program.

Vinterberg's films are to form part of the portfolio of films for Scandi Sensations, an online platform for Scandinavian film announced Monday. A collaboration between online platform Mubi, which has an audience of 5 million film fans worldwide, and pan-Scandinavian film and TV agency Nordisk Film and TV Fond, it will bring the best of Nordic film discoveries direct to viewers.
