HAPPY END wins prize in San Sebastian

Screening in Competition at the 59th San Sebastian International Film Festival, Swedish HAPPY END's Ulf Brantås took home the prize for Best Cinematography. Björn Runge congratulates Brantås on the accomplishment:
 
"The Prize for Best Cinematography for HAPPY END in San Sebastian became the icing on the cake of a fantastic stay at this years festival. My collaboration with cinematographer Ulf Brantås has always been based on trust and humility. The ceremony in San Sebastian came simultaneously as the theatrical premiere in Sweden and I am very pleased with both the prize and the great reviews we have received in the media."
 
HAPPY END is the third part of Björn Runge´s trilogy of liberation, commenced with MOUTH TO MOUTH (2005) and DAYBREAK (2003), which won the Silver Bear in Berlin 2004 and the Blue Angel for Best European Film - and on which Ulf Brantås also did cinematography.
Brantås has previously worked as a cinematographer on Lukas Moodysson's SHOW ME LOVE (FUCKING ÅMÅL), LILYA 4-EVER and TOGETHER. Over the past years Brantås has primarily worked in the UK and most recently on projects like WHITECHAPEL and TREASURE ISLAND with Eddie Izzard and Elijah Wood.
 
HAPPY END is about people who are trying to liberate themselves from destructivity and presents some of the finest acting talents in Sweden; Ann Petrén, Gustaf Skarsgård, Peter Andersson, David Dencik, Johan Widerberg and Malin Buska.
 
Producers are Madeleine Ekman and Martin Persson from Zentropa International Sweden AB, Zentropa´s Peter Aalbæk Jensen and Peter Garde are executive producers and Sisse Graum Jørgensen is co-producer.
