Four titles headed for London FF

TrustNordisk is proud to announce that four titles have been selected for this year´s London Film Festival; A HIJACKING, EASY MONEY, EASY MONEY II and THE HUNT will all screen, when the festival starts on October 10th.


Tobias Lindholm´s critically acclaimed hostage drama A HIJACKING which world premiered in Venice this week to excellent reviews will, after its North American premiere in Toronto this week, continue the festival success with participation at the London Film Festival in October. A HIJACKING will screen as part of the DARE-programme which showcases films that are upfront and takes you out of your comfort zone.

In A HIJACKING a cargo ship is captured by Somali pirates. Amongst the men on board are the ship´s cook Mikkel and the engineer Jan, who along with the rest of the seamen are taken hostage in a cynical game of life and death. A HIJACKING is produced by Tomas Radoor and René Ezra for Nordisk Film with support from The Danish Film Institute, Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) and Nordic Film and TV Fund.

 

Director Daniel Espinosa´s EASY MONEY premiered in Sweden 2010. It received raving reviews and was the No. 1 Swedish film of 2010 with more than 620.000 admissions. The remake-rights has been acquired by Warner Bros. and a US-version of the film is currently in development by producer Charles Roven (THE DARK KNIGHT, 2008; 12 MONKEYS, TWELWE MONKEYS, 1995) with Zac Efron attached in the lead role as JW. 

EASY MONEY proved an international success. It has planned releases in more than 30 countries with theatrical distribution in key territories such as USA, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Australia. In the US where it opened this summer it received great reviews and was presented by none the less than Martin Scorsese. Fredrik Wikström Nicastro at Tre Vänner Produktion AB is producer.

EASY MONEY II, the movie loosely based on Jens Lapidus´ NEVER FUCK UP and the sequel to EASY MONEY, is directed by award-winning director Babak Najafi (SEBBE, 2010) starring Joel Kinnaman, Matias Varela, Dragomir Mrsic, Fares Fares, Madeleine Martin and Dejan Cukic. EASY MONEY II had a smashing opening weekend as No. 1 on the B.O. over EUR 1.2 million in B.O. and nearly 100.000 admissions, beating titles such THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (2012). To this date it has grossed USD 3.7m.

EASY MONEY II screened exclusively for buyers at this year´s Cannes and has so far been sold to UK (Icon Distribution), Benelux (Lumiere), Switzerland (Frenetic), Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, (Maywin Media AB), Czech Republic, Slovakia (Film Europe) and Korea (Sonamu Pictures Co. Ltd). Fredrik Wikström Nicastro at Tre Vänner Produktion AB is producer.

Screening in Debate programme is also Thomas Vinterberg´s Cannes Competition Winner THE HUNT which marked Vinterberg´s return to the Cannes International Film Festival in May where it were praised by both audience and critics, was sold to a large number of territories worldwide and won the Best Actor Award (Mads Mikkelsen) as well as The Vulcain Prize of the Technical Artist and The Ecumenical Jury Award.

Starring Mads Mikkelsen THE HUNT tells the story about a man fighting against a lie that threatens to destroy his life. THE HUNT will also screen this week at the Toronto International Film Festival. THE HUNT is produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Morten Kaufmann for Zentropa in co-production with Film i Väst and Zentropa International Sweden with support from The Danish Film Institute, Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Eurimages, Nordic Film & TV Fund, The Swedish Film Institute, Swedish Television and the MEDIA programme of the European Union.

The 56th London Film Festival will take place from the 10th-21st of October.

 

A HIJACKING

 

The cargo ship MV Rozen is heading for harbour when it is hijacked by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. Amongst the men on board are the ship's cook Mikkel and the engineer Jan, who along with the rest of the seamen are taken hostage in a cynical game of life and death. With the demand for a ransom of millions of dollars a psychological drama unfolds between the CEO of the shipping company and the Somali pirates.

 

EASY MONEY

 

JW is a poor student who lives a double life within the wealthy Stockholm elite. He falls in love with an upper class girl and is soon lured into a world of crime. Jorge is a fugitive on the run from the police and the Yugoslavian mafia. His plan; import a massive cargo of coke and then disappear for good. Yugoslavian hitman Mrado is trying hard to find Jorge but his criminal life takes a turn when he is forced to take care of his young daughter. While JW starts a journey into the dark world of organized crime, he brings together the fate of all to a struggle of life and death. Easy money is based on the book by Jens Lapidus for which the rights have been sold to over 20 countries.

 

EASY MONEY II

 

JW, the promising business student who became an organized coke smuggler, is serving hard time in prison and is struggling to get back to an honest life. But a man from his past - the former hitman Mrado Slovovic - changes everything. Jorge returns to Sweden to pull off a giant coke deal. But the deal fails terribly and now he has to flee the country with both the police and the Serbian mafia on his tail. Mahmud owes the Serbian boss, Radovan a large sum of money. When he can´t pay off his debt he is left with only one choice - to find and kill Jorge.

 

THE HUNT

 

Following a tough divorce, 40-year-old Lucas has a new girlfriend, a new job and is in the process of reestablishing his relationship with his teenage son, Marcus. But things go awry. Not a lot. Just a passing remark. A random lie. And as the snow falls and the Christmas lights are lit, the lie spreads like a virus. The shock and mistrust gets out of hand, and the small community finds itself in a collective state of hysteria, while Lucas fights a lonely fight for his life and dignity.
