Christian Slater has been added to the list of cast in Lars von Trier´s NYMPHOMANIAC, which is currently shooting in Cologne, Germany.

Born in New York, where Slater starred in various Broadway-plays, the award-winning actor became an established name in Hollywood after his role in the Umberto Eco-adaptation THE NAME OF THE ROSE (1986) and high school comedy HEATHERS (1988). Up through the 90´s Slater starred in several classics such as YOUNG GUNS 2 (1990), ROBIN HOOD, PRINCE OF THIEVES (1991), TRUE ROMANCE (1993), INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE (1994) and will be seen next in the Warner Bros. feature BULLET TO THE HEAD being released in February 2013.  Most recently he starred in the comedy TV series BREAKING IN (2012) for Fox.

In NYMPHOMANIAC Slater plays the role of the father of lead character Joe. Slater himself about the role: "Lars is a complete gentleman. It's great to be on a set with someone who has such a loyal and talented team. The majority of his crew are people he has worked with over the past twenty years. They love him and I understand why. It's lovely as an actor to get opportunities a few times in your career to work on a truly special project with a director and leader who really understands his material and is able to convey what he wants so concisely. He is patient and understanding and that makes an actor want to deliver everything he has to the material."

Christian Slater joins an already extensive cast list consisting of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgård along with Stacy Martin, Shia Labeouf, Jamie Bell, Connie Nielsen, Mia Goth, Jens Albinus, Severin von Hoensbroech, Peter Gilberg Cotton, Nicolas Bro, Tabea Tarbiat, Janine Romanowski, Jesper Christensen, Tania Carlin, Felicity Gilbert and Shanti Roney.

NYMPHOMANIAC is the wild and poetic story of a woman´s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winter´s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgård), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.
