Pernilla August and Lone Scherfig joins forces in the making of a new epic love story, based on the classic love novel by Hjalmar Söderberg.
One of the most sought-after actors in Sweden at the moment, Sverrir Gudnason (LOVE AND LEMONS 2011, MONICA Z 2014) and Karin Franz Körlof (NOBODY OWNS ME from 2013, also starring Mikael Persbrandt) will play the leading roles in THE SERIOUS GAME.
Awardwinning director Pernilla August (BEYOND 2010) will direct with script by Academy Award®-and Bafta nominated Lone Scherfig (ITALIAN FOR BEGINNERS 2000, AN EDUCATION 2009, THE RIOT CLUB 2014.)
THE SERIOUS GAME is a tale about the illusions of love and the consequences which sometimes follows. A story about passioned and deepfelt love set in the beginning of the 20th century Stockholm.

THE SERIOUS GAME is produced by Patrik Andersson and Frida Bargo for B-reel in cooperation with Film i Väst, SVT, Motlys, Nordsvensk Filmunderhållning and Nimbus Film with support from the Swedish Film Institute, the Danish Film Institute, the Norwegian Film Institute, Media Desk and Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Nordic theatrical distribution in collaboration with Nordisk Film Distribution with domestic release set for spring 2016.
