We are proud to announce that Amanda Kernell’s upcoming drama CHARTER has been selected for Competition at Sundance Film Festival 2020 (January 23rd - February 2nd 2020), where the film will also have its world premiere.

CHARTER is the second feature film by critically acclaimed director Amanda Kernell. With the announcement of CHARTER’s selection for World Dramatic Competition at Sundance Film Festival, the buzz around Kernell continues and she is thrilled about the selection:

"I’m incredibly happy to hear that ’Charter’ will have its world premiere at such an important festival as Sundance. And I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to the making of this film and everyone who worked so incredibly hard to make this film into what it is."

Synopsis:
Alice hasn’t seen her two children in months. After a recent and difficult divorce, her ex-husband keeps them from seeing her, awaiting the final custody verdict in Northern Sweden. When her son calls her in the middle of the night weeping helplessly, Alice takes action. She travels on the night train to the North and in a last desperate attempt to win them over, she abducts the children and venture on an illicit charter trip to the Canary Islands. With the idea that the distance between the frozen Northern Sweden and The Canaries could buy her just enough time to reconnect with her children and possibly change the verdict on the custody case. But before she knows it, she is wanted for kidnapping, and both the authorities and her ex-husband are chasing after her.

The captivating drama has a budget of EUR 3.7 M and offers a main cast that includes Ane Dahl Torp (THE QUAKE, 2018; THE WAVE, 2015; DEAD SNOW, 2009) and Sverrir Gudnason (FALLING, 2020; THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB, 2018; BORG VS. MCENROE, 2017) as well as debuting actors Tintin Poggats Sarri and Troy Lundkvist.
