The adaptation of Lene Kaaberbol's novel features an all-star Scandinavian cast
Closing out what has been a blockbuster American Film Market, Danish sales group TrustNordisk inked multiple pre-sales on its Scandinavian fantasy tale The Shamer's Daughter.
TrustNordisk closed deals for Kenneth Kainz' adaptation of the Nordic bestseller by Lene Kaaberbol with, among others, Daro Film for Russia/CIS, Gulf Film for the Middle East and Rain Film for Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam.
Currently in post-production, The Shamer's Daughter follows Dina, a girl who has inherited her mother´s supernatural ability to look straight into the soul of other people, making them feel terrible shame. When the country's royal family is brutally murdered and the sole heir to the throne is accused of the crime, Dina is forced to use her powers to try and uncover the truth.

Anders Thomas Jensen, whose screenplay credits include the Oscar-winning In A Better World, adapted Kaaberbol's novel for the screen.
The film's cast is an ensemble of Scandinavian all-stars, including Denmark's Allan Hyde (True Blood), Soren Malling (A Hijacking) and Peter Plaugborg (The Keeper of Lost Causes), Norwegian actor Jakob Oftebro (Kon-Tiki), Swedish actress Maria Bonnevie (A Second Chance) and Finland's Stina Ekblad.
TrustNordisk had success with several of its Nordic genre titles at this year's AFM.
Sundance Selects picked up the North American rights for three crime thrillers produced by Danish shingle Zentropa: The Keeper of Lost Causes, The Absent One and A Conspiracy of Faith; Norwegian disaster movie The Wave from Cold Prey director Roar Uthaug sold to multiple territories, including France, Spain and China; and L.A.-based distributor Brainstorm Media snatched up North American rights for I Am Here, an English-language drama from Danish director Anders Morgenthaler, which stars Oscar winner Kim Basinger.
