A ROYAL AFFAIR nominated for an Academy Award®

TrustNordisk congratulates Nikolaj Arcel's A ROYAL AFFAIR for being chosen by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as one of the five nominees to compete for an Oscar® in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The other films competing in the category are Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg's KON-TIKI, Michael Haneke's AMOUR, Pablo Larrain's NO and Kim Nguyen's WAR WITCH.

A ROYAL AFFAIR world premiered in Competition at Berlin International Film Festival last year, where it took home two Silver Bears for Best Actor (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) and Best Script (Rasmus Heisterberg and Nikolaj Arcel) and has since continued its strong festival streak at e.g. Telluride, Toronto and AFI, where it won the Audience Award. Starring Mads Mikkelsen, Alicia Vikander and Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Arce´s historical drama has climbed to the top of the charts both nationally and internationally, breaking admission records in UK, Australia and France. A ROYAL AFFAIR just recently the film earned a Golden Globe®-nomination by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

A ROYAL AFFAIR is produced by Louise Vesth, Sisse Graum Jørgensen, and Meta Louise Foldager for Zentropa Entertainments. Executive producers are Lars von Trier, Peter Aalbæk Jensen and Peter Garde. Screenplay is written by Rasmus Heisterberg and Nikolaj Arcel, Rasmus Videbæk is director of photography, composers are Gabriel Yared and Cyrille Aufort, editors are Mikkel E.G. Nielsen and Kasper Leick, Niels Sejer is behind production design and Manon Rasmussen behind costumes.

The film is produced by Zentropa Entertainments28 in cooperation with Trollhättan Film AB and Film i Väst in Sweden, Sirena Film in The Czech Republic and Zentropa Entertainments Berlin. The film is also supported by West Danish Film Fund, Swedish Television, Czech Film Commission under Ministerstvo Kultury, MDM Leipzig Film Fund, Nordisk Film & TV-Fond, Eurimages and The Media Programme of the European Union. A ROYAL AFFAIR is budgeted at €6m and has been supported by The Danish Film Institute and Eurimages. Nordisk Film is domestic distributor, while TrustNordisk handles international sales.

The 85th Academy Awards will take place on February 24th 2013.
