Director Tobias Lindholm´s second feature film A HIJACKING is the talk of the town at the Toronto International Film Festival. The buzz has been growing rapidly since its world premiere in Venice Film Festiva´s Orizzonti section last week where it premiered to excellent reviews.

A HIJACKING has now been sold to Benelux (A-film) and Korea (Atnine Film) and there are ongoing negotiations in a number of territories.

Both buyers and critics have thus embraced A HIJACKING which The Hollywood Reporter called: “...a production which exudes impressively steely control on all levels”. Screen International described the film as “A tense and intricately shot drama (...) a powerful and intensely watchable film” while Indiewire/The Playlist called A HIJACKING “an absorbing, highly moving film (...) a hidden jewel among the line-up (...) one of the very best pictures of the whole festival”.

Starring Pilou Asbæk (R, 2010 and BORGEN, 2010-11), Søren Malling (THE KILLING, 2008 and BORGEN, 2010- 11) and Dar Salim (GAME OF THRONES, 2011), A HIJACKING follows the crew on board the cargo ship MV Rozen as it is boarded by pirates in the Indian Ocean. Amongst the men on board are the ship´s cook Mikkel and the engineer Jan, who along with the rest of the seamen are taken hostage in a cynical game of life and death. With the demand for a ransom of millions of dollars a psychological drama unfolds between the CEO of the shipping company and the Somali pirates.

A HIJACKING is produced by Tomas Radoor and René Ezra for Nordisk Film with support from The Danish Film Institute, DR and Nordic Film and TV Fund. Domestic release is set for September 20th through local distributor Nordisk Film.
