Tribeca International Film Festival has just announced THE DIVINE ORDER as an official selection for the International Narrative Competition.
Director Petra Volpe says: "I am extremely excited and honoured about Tribeca's selection of THE DIVINE ORDER and I can´t wait to finally being able to share my film with an international audience”.
Furthermore, THE DIVINE ORDER has been nominated for the most important film award in Switzerland, Swiss Film Awards, for Best Fiction Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Actor and three nominees in the category Best Performance in a Supporting Role. The Swiss Film Awards is to be held on March 24th 2017.
THE DIVINE ORDER has been pre-sold to Germany and Austria (Alamode Film) and China (DD Dream), with several other territories in negotiation.
The film tells a heartfelt and captivating story about the fight for equal rights for women in Switzerland in 1971. It portrays Nora, a young housewife and mother, living in a quaint little village with her husband and their two sons.
The Swiss countryside is untouched by the major social upheavals the movement of 1968 has brought about. Nora’s life is not affected either; she is a quiet person who is liked by everybody – until she starts to publicly fight for women’s suffrage, which the men are due to vote on in a ballot on February 7, 1971.
The film is produced by Reto Schaerli and Lukas Hobi for Zodiac Pictures, co-produced by Swiss Radio and Television and Teleclub with support from Swiss Federal Office of Culture, Zurich Film Foundation, Canton of Aargau, Lucerne and Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Suissimage and Migros Kulturprozent.
Domestic release is set for March 9th 2017.
The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival is set for April 19th- 30th.
