The drama, featuring 'Exodus' actor Dar Salim, also sold to Japan, China and Turkey on the back of a promo reel screening at AFM.
Studiocanal has snatched up U.K. rights to Darkland, an upcoming Danish action thriller from first-time director Fenar Ahmad. The deal came after a screening of a promo reel of the film at the American Film Market in Santa Monica earlier this month.
Dar Salim (Exodus, Game of Thrones) stars in Darkland as a successful surgeon who turns into a masked vigilante after his brother is killed by a criminal gang. The project, which TrustNordisk is selling worldwide, was a hit at AFM, with deals also signed with Japan (Gaga), China (DD Dream) and Turkey (Euromedia), as well as several other territories in negotiation.
The $1.8 million feature, which co-stars Stine Fischer Christensen, Roland Moller and Dulfi Al-Jabouri, is in postproduction. Scanbox Entertainment is handling distribution across Scandinavia.
Jacob Jarek produced Darkland for Profile Pictures, with Thor Sigurjonsson, Ditte Milsted and Caroline Schluter Bingestam as executive producers.
